In Phu Yen's socio-economic development strategy, the southern coastal area of the province is located mostly in Dong Hoa town, playing the role of creating a driving force to promote the development of the whole province. On this land, Phu Yen built the Southern Phu Yen Economic Zone, which has been included in the planning of the country's system of coastal economic zones by the Government. According to the plan approved by the Prime Minister, the South Phu Yen Economic Zone has modern infrastructure, serving as a driving force for development in the South Central Coast region; is the sea gateway of the Central Highlands and the provinces of Southern Laos, Northeast Cambodia, and Thailand. This is a general economic zone (including tariff area and non-tariff area), with the model: general and specialized port cluster, refining industry, petrochemical industry, multi-industry industry, trade and services. , tourism, urban and agriculture, forestry and fishery, forming an independent economic space. That is also a great opportunity for Dong Hoa to accelerate the process of industrialization and modernization of agriculture and rural areas.
